A cinquain (pronounced Sin-cane) is a short poem that doesn't rhyme.
It has 5 lines. Here is how it is done:
Line 1 is you subject or an object; a noun.
Line 2 has two descriptive words about your subject; adjectives.
Line 3 gets 3 actions words; verbs.
Line 4 has 4, sometimes 5, words; a phrase, sentence or feeling.
Line 5 is a synonym for your topic, or one word that sums it up; noun.
Here are some examples:
Catching, swimming, loving
Happy all day long
Growing, giving, smelling
So wonderful to see
pancake, "ball's up," set, killed
Bump, set, spike!
