30-06 prices, comparing a woodsmaster 742 and savage 110?

I am comparing two 30-06's. I am looking for the prices of both a Remington Woodsmaster model 742 #173717. It is in average to poor condition. I am also looking at savage 110 bolt action #E873880 in excellent condition. I have looked all over the net to try to find prices and have had no luck. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

go with the savage in excellent condition. the 742 isn't a 700. if is was a 700 in average to poor condition i would still go with the savage in excellent condition.

Attention PA gun owners. What are your thoughts on House Bill 760?

Nearly all the major gunmakers have being trying to sell autoloaders to hunters for about a century now, and hunters have sensibly stayed away in droves. I never have cared for the Savage 110 (though I'd love to have a 99), so to a large degree I agree with the other guy. Spend a few extra bucks on a 700 or its equivalent.

I have used several auto loaders for hunting in the past. The Remington line rates right behind the BAR from Browning. If your hog hunting in thick woods or running dogs and plan on shooting at a running target the 742 can not be beat. However Im not sure it would be the best buy in the condition its in unless its cheap. You can replace the wood on it with a stock set made for the 7400 series.

On the other hand you couldnt pay me to own a Savage firearm period ! I have never seen one that I thought was worth paying for.

Some have mentioned the 700 Remington bolt actions. These are very good guns but some people just dont like bolt actions. My advice would be to go with what you want and not with what people tell you you should do. Out of what you have listed above the remington is the best even if you have to spend some money on it to make it look good. I wish you luck on your journey and I hope this info helps some.

What are the parts of a M1 and M16 rifle?

I have a Savage 111( nearly identical to the 110) and I have killed deer with it. It is a very good rifle and perform nicely in the woods.
