Question:Basically, my father is becoming extremley stressed out from work. The other day, he thought he was having a heart attack due to so much stress.
So, today in the newpaper, i saw this Ad for these golf clubs that were $350.00 normally, but are on sale for $ 100.00 at big 5! my dad has often told me that he would like to try out golfing sometime. the only thing is, im only 16, and have never been golfing in my life. Is this a good deal?
heres what the Ad says
" features a graphite shafted 400cc Driver; 7 Deep cavity, Perimeter weighted irons with speed synchronized steel shafts; plus lightweight bag stand, with 3 oversized titanium marix metal woods"
i dont know what any of that means, so if you could help me out, that'd be great. im trying to relieve some of the stress my father is getting from so much work, and im only 16, so i dont know anything about golf.
How many of you watch golf just to see good weather?
Jorge, your'e a good kid to think of helping your old man instead of the other way around. My answer is fairly simple, don't get me wrong but if the features of the clubs are all greek to you then the clubs you use does't really matter, eh?. As long as the clubs are current issue, i.e. not wooden clubs, your cool. Ya know why I started smackin' golf balls? That's right, stress relief. I started out buyin' three clubs at the local second hand sports shop, yeah that's right, three clubs! A driver, a nine iron, an a putter. Later on after gettin into it I bought a $100 Wally world special set. Still use that set but I swear sometimes I just bring 3 clubs to the course, no bag, no cart, no glove, just those three clubs. An you know what? when I do, theres no tension, like a kid at a swimmin' hole, ya know? Yeah, if you can get a $350 set of clubs for $100 it's a great buy, but for what we do? you can get a few clubs cheap at the local second hand store, use the money saved for balls and range fees, an your old man won't stress that you spent so much money tryin' to lighten up his day. These are just a few thoughts from an old man with way too much stress in his daily life.
What are the best irons in the world?(Titliest, Taylormade, Nike, Callaway,Mizuno or Ping)?
great offer most club sets like that one go for about $200-$300
Why do golfers only wear one glove?
Buy the best BRAND-NAME set you can afford. A good on-line source for used equipment is threeballs.com and of course ebay. If your dad has my luck though he could very well stroke out on the course. There are many fees associated with golf, be aware of them. A good gym or fishing may be an alternative. Good luck.
How many Majors will Tiger win this year? Which ones?
I buy mine from a place called "SportsCheck," here in Toronto. My Fairway irons cost anywhere between $10-$20, and my clubs cost under $50. Good luck!
THE AD SOUNDS GOOD BUT YOU BETTER LOOK AT THE CLUBS AND SEE IF THEY ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. IF YOUR DAD WANTS TO TRY GOLF WHY DOSEN'T HE RENT CLUBS FOR A GAME OR TWO SO HE CAN TELL IF HE WANTS TO GET INTO GOLF. THERE COURSES THAT WILL RENT YOU SOME CLUBS FOR A SAMLL FEE
HOW DO I FIT YAHOO HOME PAGE TO MY 17" WIDE SREEN? i HAVE TRIED CHANGING FROM WIDE TO NARROW SCREEN.?
This is a pretty good deal to get him started. He will develop his own preferences and want to buy the clubs of his choice later if he sticks with it. Maybe he'll give his old set to you and you can spend some quality time together. Better yet, buy two sets now.
Have a driver problem?
As long as your dad doesn't want brand name clubs, then that's a great deal. I think even if you don't get brand name clubs they can last a long time. But be careful about buying from someone else. You could actually get a new set on sale. I got a great set from Dick's sporting goods for about $150 and they work great.
When do you use a lob wedge in golf?
It sounds like a good deal for beginner clubs, but really cheap "junk" clubs can sometimes not play very well making the game even harder than it is to start out.
Brand names range from ones like Wilson, Adams and Ram etc. on the low end - to Ping, Titlest and Callaway etc. on the high end. Nike kind of covers both ends of the spectrum being mostly in the middle and well worth a look if you can afford to go up a little.
The technology has gotten really good these days though so you may be fine with whatever set you choose as a first set...
Golf can be great relaxation and fun, your Dad is lucky to have you thinking of him!
How many holes are there in a golf course?
That is a good beginner set. If he wants to improve he will probably want better ones sometime. A lot of people buy $1000 sets and then find they don't like them.
What happened to Phil Michelson in the US Open?
Okay, being 16 and just starting golf not a big deal at all, i just started a year ago and im playing college golf this year, if you work at it you can get better. The ad doesnt really say much about brand or anything like that. Depending on how much you plan on spending for clubs is up to you, i honestly started off with a cheap set, then moved up to the nike oss slingshots that were 899.99. And tehre is a major difference in the clubs. ppl will tell you there isnt but there is im not saying go spend 900 dollars but i wouldnt get something incrediablly cheap. For a good used set it would probably be around $350. Then plus a driver and putter. Putter is really the only thing u can really buy super cheap and it not really matter b.c u can learn to putt with anything. As a beginner as well i would try to find nike irons, or even the taylor made racs are really good because they are forgiving. Good Luck!! Look to purchase clubs at www.edwinwatts.com , or www.golfgalaxy.com . They normally have really good deals on used clubs and sometimes good deals on new ones
How to hit a 5 wood?
You're dad is really fortunate.
Coming from his son, you're dad will appreciate any set you buy.
