Adam Gilchrist the cheater?

Question:I find it quite amusing what little prominence Adam Gilchrist's cheating episode in the world cup received in the news today. If this was someone from another country(especially the subcontinent), we'll probably hear about it every hour on the hour followed by a great TV debate. when someone(don’t remember the name) dropped a lozenge on the ball a few years ago, the Australian media never got tired of it and the episode was repeated over and over. To the australian sports fanatics (media included) the definition of a cheater is as follows;
"Someone other than an Australian sportsman who creates an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others. The term cheating usually refers to the breaking of rules but not laws."
Does anyone like to send an update to Webster's?

I mentioned once about banned substances that enhance performance?
Clearly, Gilchrist used a non-traditional foreign object to enhance his grip. Perhaps even his mis-hits going over the boundary for a six is an example of the undue advantage gained by this enhanced grip. To say that a man who has been in poor form throughout the tournament just came back to stellar form during the all important final, and that the squash ball is just a coincidence is simply naïve. After all, these are guys who wanted SLC investigated for a mere team selection policy. Had the roles been reversed, and Sanath Jayasuriya was the one with the squash-ball, I`m sure the cricketing world would be on fire now with all sorts of accusations fired at Sri Lanka for cheating.

why most people avoid talkingagaint unjust
but we Lankans if this happened to another Subcontinent country..
would fire really against it
now we have to be patent
or else
we know how to bad mouth these bloo--asstralians

Who will be the best bowler in worldcup?

we need to move on now.

Which first indian bowler take 500 wicket?

Mate...Gilly didn't cheat. The squash ball provides the same kind of grip that an extra glove does for the batsmen. So Gilly was within the rules...

And like the previous poster said --- get over it! It's just that people can't stand to see Aus win and will do anything ranging from blaming them for sledging to cheating to say that they won unfairly. What you guys don't get is that Aussie cricketers are the best damn players in the world!

In which channel will the india-bangladesh match be telecasted?

Bodyline was consider legal before a rule was made on it as nothing of such sort was defined in the books.
Similar is the case will Gilli, ICC need to decide whether this is legal or not, and if it is illegal then whosoever is caught doing so in future is punishable, but I think as of today Gilli has done nothing wrong.

Australian team is too tough to defeat, but sometimes their acts are not good like they pushed Pawar from the stage.that was bad on their part, but this act of Gilli is I think nothing much serious.

Pick your best 11 for indian cricket team?

I don't think Adam Gilchrist is a cheater. But He did lot of damage to Sri Lankan Hearts

Hwo was cricket world champion befor 2007?

May be wrong.but how it is unfair?
And certainly it is not cheating.
If Gilchrist himself had not disclosed it as if he had discovered something, nobody would have known it.
It is for the ICC to make it clear.

I think india have better batting line up then australia?

NEWS FLASH !!

CRICKET'S lawmakers overnight cleared Adam Gilchrist's use of a squash ball in his batting glove, which helped him score a record 149 in Australia's World Cup final win.

SO GILLY's IN THE CLEAR !!

It wasnt illegal as it did NOT breach any laws !!

and PRAMATO - Gilly using illegal substances?? I dont think so - only players in your part of the world are guilty of that! So p*ss off with your bullsh*t!!

How Team India will do in the forthcoming Bangladesh Cricket tour.?

Gilchrist is a cheater..Aussies think they can do whatever. He cheated in Final and won. But Sri Lankans played a gentlemens' cricket game and lost. Proud of u Sri Lankans!

Whos the best?Mccullum or Gilchrist!Tait Or Bond!Vettori Or Hogg?

Cheating or not cheating, Gilchrist has utilized a loophole in the rules of the game to obtain an undue advantage. This is a sign of a coward. Maybe since he hasn't broken a particular rule he may be safe from the officials, but has lost a great deal of respect as a great cricketer of our times. He was aware of his poor form in the tournament & looked into the rules of the game to spot any loophole he could exploit. Shame on him. Shame for the glory of the game.

Andrew Symonds or Shane Watson?

I find ,Australians and Adam Gilchrist severely guilty, of the illegal device that was employed, and should be suspended for life. Furthermore, the Australian Cricket Team be disqualified from the World Cricket Cup 2007, and the cup be re-awarded to the Sri Lankan Cricket Team.

The characteristic of the squash ball indicates that the ball is made of vulcanised rubber with additions of polymers and synthetic material to achieve a degree of fairly low resilience. The lower the resilience of the object the higher the proportion of energy used in deforming it. Thus when a batsmen hits the cricket ball, the air inside the squash ball gets pressurised or deformed, releasing a spring load of energy, that is transferred directly to the bat, resulting in a catapulting effect on the cricket ball, as evidenced by the spectators, watching Gilchrist’s batting spell bound.

In this context, it is evident that wearing a performance enhancing device (Squash ball) is prohibitive against the ‘Spirit of the Cricket Game’ and is analogous to an Athlete using performance enhancing drugs to win his event. Furthermore, the Australian Cricket Team should be disqualified from the World Cup 2007 and in lieu Sri Lankan Cricket Team be re-awarded the World Cup 2007

but ICC & MCC
are under obligation to Australia
they might have taken bribes already not to do anything
against so called ritious Australia
but if this was done by any other player they surely Will ban
him for life
dont YOu think so my cricket loving friend
