It is difficult to learn the techinque, because to Westerners it is not a techinque at all, it is lack of mental clutter such as doubt, hesitation or insecurity, things that are learned, and part of every person's phyche. Ignoring such distraction isn't effective, such distraction must be eliminated all together, and it must be done when the situation dictates not by the individual's consious choice to apply it. I like to call it instant meditation. It is introspective and spiritual, not physical, and attmepting to teach it, would be like trying to teach someone awarness, the act of becoming aware is lost to the object it focuses your attention on.

Your anwer is yes, but..it cannot be practiced it must be done, and it cannot be repeated because each sitituation a subtly different experience that requires it's own unique response. The repetitive act of Western "practice" must be replaced with a spiritual act of awareness. Results vary but as you age you lose more than you gain so enjoy your youth. If such action is needed, it is enough to know it is available to you to make it so.

You don't need experience as such you need proper guidance and understanding of it; of what it means to control the flows inside your body for optimum performance in varying extremes. This is Qi gong.

Qi gong allows a body to heal itself or give itself the best chance to heal, to make most of nutrients entering body and also to repair and strengthen itself.

The key to it is to get proper guidance from a master of it and then you must practice it yourself. Often alone and in all situations in life, because Qi gong then becomes life for you, it becomes a way of life where you will always be mindful of your body's rythms, and thus be always better able than others to sustain your life. Sometimes through calm breathing in solitude or just living with a controlled rythm on a dialy basis as opposed to living without knowing and subjecting yourself to unnecesary harms.

Qi gong practitioners don't always live the longest, but they often do acheive extreme acheivements with minimal resources.

But to see the number of old aged Chinese who sustain high level of physical activity while they perform Thai Chi in the park, suggests it can help bring about longer healthy life.
