ALMS light question?

What are the lights that are just behind the door on American Le Mans Series cars for? There are 2 or 3 vertical lights just behind the door of the car.


Why wasn't there any about Robby Gordon and if he did or didn't the press after showing it on tv

Each car carries 3 LEDs on the side. The color of the LEDs indicates which class the car is in -- red for LMP1, blue for LMP2, green for GT1, and yellow for GT2. The number of lights illuminated shows the car's track position in class -- 1 light for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd.
